67: Cate Blanchett in An Ocean of 8 Hannas

Cate Blanchett is one of our greatest working actresses. So in honor of her new film Where'd You Go Bernadette, Double Edged Double Bill hosts Adam Thomas & Thomas Mariani are covering a double bill of two films from her varied filmography. First up is Adam's bad pick Ocean's 8, the heist film spin off which sparks mild disagreement between our duo over how it qualifies for "bad." Then our discusses Thomas' good pick Hanna, the action/fairy tale that displays Cate's talents at deception, manipulation and unspecific Southern accents. Then, their good feature Pain & Gain, which our heroes argue isn't just the best film for pro-wrestler turned star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & director Michael Bay, but may just be the most brutally dark satire of our modern age. First up is Highlander, the fantasy action film that Thomas argues could benefit from better action and less miscasting of Frenchmen playing Scottish. Then, Adam argues the 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau has the definitive version of a classic story with a less ego & more empathy for animal/human hybrids.
